Here ya go;
gribble
An oversized crumb, typically found in or near corners, that is not readily identifiable, is typically furry, and may be fried-food related. Gribbles are more often than not found in the floorboards of old cars, but can be located almost anywhere. Typically a noun, but occasionally a verb (see below).
noun When I looked for the ping-pong ball in the corner, I found nothing but a collection of old gribbles from a long-completed meal of fried chicken.
verb: "gribbling," "to gribble" While gribbling in the crevices of the car seat, the child found a raisin.

Missed this post until now somehow pushki, dunno how!
Had mine out on both cars and like others have said, they slide and then lift out.
Came out easily and only broke one clip on the UKDM (which as this never ever happens, I must take pleasure in saying that it wasn't anything like as dirty underneath as yours was)
when I removed the trim on the JDM, found that all but one clip were already broken and it was held in mainly by polyurethane sealant.
I do have some spare clips, but need to hang onto them until the JDM comes back (don't know how many I need).
I'm afraid I've gone and blown some more money for the UKDM - they're definitely in refurbable condition, but considering I put brand new rear window trim and door window scrapers on it, there was just nothing else for it really... Brand new ones from Japan arrive this weekend

haha, not exactly, but will look pretty good (should do for the money I've spent on it!!!).
It started off fairly ropey don't forget, so there's only so far that I can take it.
It needs to go back to the bodyshop actually - there's a couple of bits where the paint's sunk over the last year, so they're gonna sort them.

For the benefit of Bennyboy and Wurly.
What dirt??

After discovering yesterday just how effective Autosol metal polish was for removing the gribble on my roof strips, I thought I'd try it out on the rear quarter window trim.

Obviously you have to mask it off to protect the paintwork and glass. Once again, I used some AutoGlym Bumper Care to revive & protect.
