Not sure if it's the same on the 5G, but in my 4G the water builds up in the little recess to the side of the boot, once it reaches high enough it can then run over the boot floor and down into the wheel well.

It might be worth checking these side areas for water also, as this is where the rear sunroof drain tubes exit.

Thanks for all the help guys,

I'll have a look into the sunroof drain tubes thing,

I bought the car for £600 after it sat on an old ladies drive for about a year lol, she'd had it for 10 years so even though its been well serviced etc, theres probably loads of issues to sort out

Most common cause of water ingress into the boot is from the rear light seals
Remove the lights and clean surrounding areas. Use a good sealant such as tiger seal around the seal and refit the lights

Sunroof drain tubes should also be checked as has already been mentioned

Show us yer tubes;

The other problem is a slopey drive; the boot in a 5G is very horizontal and if the car's parked nose-down, the water 'round the boot lid channel drains toward the rear window. If the seal has dried & shrunk, it will ingress into the boot. Or splash in when you shut the boot.

I have that problem;

Don't know if this would also be applicable to 5ths, but my JDM 4th gets water in the boot by capilary action (ooer) up inside the join between the seal and lip, i.e. water gets drawn up under the seal, over the lip and back down the other side of the lip and out into the boot.

It only does this in one tiny area where there's been a tiny bit of corrosion so the lip has a small nick out of it.

(Nothing like 2-3 inches though mind - that's a serious volume of water!)

Ive read on here that you might be able to carefully clean out the rear tube with a coat hanger from where the rear pipe exits somewhere near the rear wheel??

I dont know whether this is adviseable, i wondered if anyone had any pics of where the rear tube exits??

Thanks
