To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

As usual with Honda, it seems we're all right, and all wrong at the same time!

It must compare rear & front wheel speeds, in order to work out the slip angle, I presume.

Haven't taken it out for a spin yet.
It's buried at the back of the drive still having the interior put back together atm...

So having taken it out on Saturday (for MOT, which it failed) I can now confirm that...
A non-ABS 4WS ECU doesn't work in an ABS 4WS car. :(

After about ten mins of driving the 4WS light comes on (repeatable).

I haven't checked the codes yet, but I'm assuming after ten mins of getting loads of steering wheel action and no rear speed signal action, it twigs that something isn't right.

Referred to the manual (page 615 of the pdf) and it does show as suspected, when you have ABS it takes a speed signal from the ABS and when you haven't, it takes it direct from the rear sensors;

Ho-hum, so I'll have to get off my arse and fix the old ECU (and pull the bloody interior apart that I've just finished putting back together grrr)

And just for good measure, last week my UKDM 4WS stopped working too (again, I haven't bothered to check the codes yet, but ABS is still working fine so 'taint a sensor).

I'm guessing it's the same thing for both cars (dry joints on the transistors). Time will tell.

Thanks, yep I remember the offer.
Will try and get into both of these first to see what they look like first and see what I can find.
Get back to you if I need to!

Took the ECU off the JDM apart today and... couldn't see any golden bullet as to what was wrong with it :evil:

There were a few very very minor dry joints, so I've re-done all them, will have to stick it in and try it now when I get a chance.

Didn't bother to take any pics, because there's a full guide here;

http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/archive/in ... 51150.html

with all the pics linked off it.

(I think it's also been covered on here but couldn't find it?)

Cheers, I've had a couple of offers.

Gonna try this one first and if no good, as they say... I'll be back!

Fitted it to the JDM today and... All working fine! :D

I'm pretty surprised though, 'cause I really didn't see anything much wrong at all when I took it apart.

Oh well, best get on with doing the UKDM one soon then, I guess.
