M@dds old 4th (PICTURE HEAVY)

Post by M@dds » Sat Feb 16, 2013 6:10 pm

Hi all, I have realized that for the whole time I have owned Preludes that I never really posted any progress on any of my cars.

I did own a 4th gen which I spent a lot of cash and time on which Ill post Pics of, I had a fair few up a down moments getting the car where I wanted it then did the stupid thing and bloody sold it,

Anyways I thought id share what I had done with my 4th then ill be posting up my current process with my 5th

First of all I spent months looking for the ideal prelude in the colour and trim I wanted for a reasonable price, I think I paid £700 for her and drove north of london (cant remember where exactly) to have a look around and a test drive, this was one of the advert pictures

Image

I loved it, and put my deposit down on it, the cars tax was running out and the MOT was due so I couldnt drive it back, I stuck my neck out with this one but had a good feeling

I had to wait a week go back and pay the owner the rest of the cash then I had to arrange for the car to be delivered via truck :/ which I think was around £200 I had to wait for sometime for the car to be pcked up as the driver wouldnt be coming my way for a further two weeks and if i waited that would have brought the price down

I booked her in to have the cambelt done ASAP

Image

this is her on the drive way the next morning after she was delivered :D

I drove my lude as a daily driver and soon realised I wanted to get this car alot more up to scratch. as with most ludes registered from 1993, the developing of some pretty major rust on the rear arches it was pretty common and getting pretty bad, this was my main concern, this was the start of my long road to developing mild mod bug rabies!

after a few months of worrying I booked her in for to have her arches done and saved enough cash to have her sprayed aswell, I spoke to the chap in in Thornbury, seemed like a genuine chap so thought yeah ill get him on the job. two weeks later with huge delays for this reason and the other I end up with my arch repair looking like this

Image

spot the difference, not only was the arch replacement not round but He painted the arch (I made sure he knew no to bother as I had the car booked in else where) ok no big deal, provided he made the arch round as it should and to make sure that it married up with the skirting as it fell short, I had him redooo the work and didnt pay him the rest of the cash till he finished the job he started properly. here are the rest of the pictures of his lovely job putting all the trimming back on

List of modifications:

Stainless steel exhaust manifold (Ebay job, pretty good though)
Longlife custom CAT back exhaust with custom 6" twin tail pipe
Magnecore HT leads 8MM
Apexi Neo VAFC
Brand new redtop rocker cover
Black diamond drilled and grooved discs all round
Front Fogs

This was enough to make around 200BHP so I was told by the buyer

I made a few purchases during my time of owning my 4th that I didnt really document but you can sort of notice a few extra things appear through the photos.

after I finally got the arch sorted out I had to get the car down to the paint shop as soon as possible really,

I booked it in at airbrush ink in clevedon, nice bloke called Ken, very skilled and done a great job, it did take a good 3 months for him to finish my car though lol he did fit my bubble kit for no extra cost though 8-)

here are a few pics of my 4th progress over that time

this was just from when I dropped her off

I had to make a few other purchases:

New sunroof panel
Second hand front bumper (with support bars of the lower lip still in place)
New badges
New bumper fixings and bolts
New registration plates
folding electric wing mirrors (still have these :/)

 Sorry got the wrong person. I think it was a guy callled shoves from lude behaviour. It was very heavy and indeed made out of oak i feel

Anyway like your ride mate. Very clean and simple, the way they should be. Well done. Plus rep for you. :P

Nice recognition spot there Sam. Not often an old owners lude seems to turn up again on the forums (or gets recognised)

So did Drewster own it after M@dds?
