I've spoken to Donald, his engine would be the simplest to swap, but I just bought this prelude and the engine has gone straight away and I don't really have any spare cash for another engine, so I'm looking for a very low budget way of doing this.
So far the most likely option is a jdm SIR engine, just not sure if it's obd1 or 2

It was on US forums where I have seen this; maybe it's just USDM then; apparently they have a crank and cylinder sensor in the oil pump on the H22A4 motor. I guess JDM and Euro motors don't have this, thankfully.
Hopefully I've got my hands on a 97 JDM H22A to swap for my dead H22A8. I would prefer an 8 or a 7 but this H22A is too good a deal to pass up.
