That was definitely some serious blow-past.
Yep, the downpipe has been butchered to fit, but I wouldn't worry about it too much so long as the studs now line up ok.

Just make sure you use some washers behind the nuts and a new gasket and all will be ok.

That would explain why the downpipe was'nt secured properly. Aftermarket stainless maifold is longer than oem. So they would have to lower the downpipe in order to make the mani fit

Just phoned the only parts place thats open today and they dont have anything.

Im looking at this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Civic-I ... 2ec14cba62

Is it worth phoning back and asking about one for a civic? as they always go on reg number im wondering if they might pull up something that will fit but looking under another car.

I really dont want to have to wait until tuesday to get one as im gonna be really busy from tuesday onwards and have today and tomorrow off!

So i just went to the parts place and they were saying that the civics and the ludes and stuff were listed in the catalogue as ring gaskets. i ought 2 as they were only 1.50 each.

There is a groove around the downpipe end that looks like it could seat the ring gaskets but im not sure about it. anyone know if these will be ok?

They might work, as you have oem downpipe. I have aftermarket mani and downpipe, so no good for me.

Reckon i will give them a try tomorrow, and if they dont work i will order the one you linked me to.

Is it ok to put on the new manifold gasket and reuse it again if i need to take the manifold off to change the downpipe gasket in a few days time?

Well i reused my manifold gasket, it was oem honda one mind. I just cleaned it up and re fitted.
I think i torqued them up a couple of ft/lbs higher just to make sure.

Well this is a brand new one i havent even opened yet, it will only be run for a few days if the downpipe rings dont work before i have to take it apart again. im guessing it will be ok.

I dont feel too confident in the ring gaskets to be honest, not really sure why.
