You know the rust is worth sorting ;-)

Look forward to seeing it running again! :D
Cheers mate :) I reckon I'll sort the rust, I've just bought some primer, pirates black paint and laquer so will strip the front down and get rid of the scabby bits once its back together and running.

Bit more progress since the last update, I've got the drive shaft seals in and the half-shaft refitted, plus have started work stripping the suspension down. Ive already had to drill out the 2 countersunk disk screws on the o/s assembly so will have to fix that little problem when take it into work to sandblast the suspension uprights. Hopefully get that done Friday afternoon.

re. the disks, they've gotten quite rusty despite being sat in the garage. I've cleaned one up a bit, it's come up pretty well but there is a hint of some pitting in a few places. The disks are almost brand new so I don't want to have to replace them and for cost reasons I'd rather not have to have them resurfaced, what do people think? The last thing I want to do is skimp on the disks and end up having to replace disks and pads in a few thousand miles time but I think I might just get away with it...

I'm sure they'd be ok (I've run worse  ) but as you have everything stripped down, it would be the easiest time to slap new ones on there?

Got the o/s front upright and disk in the sand blaster today, it's come out quite well :) I'll smother some hammerite on it over the weekend and then get the driveshaft stripped and painted, then rebuild it all. Coming on nicely 8-)

Can't wait to see this back on the road mate, I remember it/you from what seems like the very early days of my lude ownership?
Best of luck with it :D

That looks absolutely great.
Nice to have a sand blaster at home... I'm thinking first purchase once I get into my new storage place, will be a wash tank. Sand blaster might have to follow after that though

Managed to get the n/s suspension upright in the sand blaster yesterday evening and have got the first coat of paint on. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to have built up the o/s driveshaft and started putting things back together! 8-)

Cheers dude :) I've rebuilt the o/s driveshaft and loosely fitted it with most of the other suspension gubbins now. Decided to check out the caliper - the sliders hadn't seized but when I pushed on the piston, fluid squirted out. Not ideal  I've stripped that caliper down now and found a nicely pitted piston which will be replaced, 2x pistons and caliper refurb kit on order. Irritating as I'd only rebuilt them about a year before it came off the road - I should have removed them and stored them in the garage in hindsight... I've also written off a nearly new set of Hawk Ferro-Carbon pads which was an expensive error, I'll probably have to replace them with standard ones for cost reasons :x You live and learn
