This is so that your top ups over the oil change interval equal the volume of a full change, saving you having to actually change the whole lot in one sitting. It has the added benefit of free rust treating the underneath of your car as you go, too (that's what I always said about my CXs, anyway :lol: )

I knew a black cab driver who used to brush his old oil on the chassis of the cab as a rustproofer :lol:
