Long drive Readiness

Morning peeps

I have a long drive of over 700miles to do in a day 350 there and 350 back to collect my replacement bumper and front wing from 'derrick' I was wondering if you guys have any advise in preparation for this, the furthest I have taken her is 280miles round trip to collect the front lip and that was a long day peppered with concerns and white knuckle moments wondering 'what's that noise?!!?' I normally do my pre flight checks, fluids ands tyre pressures etc and took out breakdown cover when I first got her just in case.
Is there anything I am missing? oh, I bought some ZX-1 additive as well so the internals have had a good coating of nano tech.

Hi,

Take it easy - you'll be in the seat for many hours so don't rush the drive. Take a map book with you in case of diversions/road closures/accidents etc. as a satnav can be pretty dumb when it comes to the unexpected. Review your route before hand so that you know yourself where you'll be going.

Take some drinks and food with you, but nothing too sugary or with lots of caffeine i.e. Red Bull type stimulant drinks. Take a break at least once there and again coming back and chill out for a good 10-15 mins. - get out of the car and have a walk around & take a toilet break.

Confirm the address of your destination and have the contact details for Derrick to hand just-in-case you have problems finding him (or her).

Try and leave a bit earlier so that you have some extra time in case of delays. Check the online services (such as the AA) for roadworks etc. en-route. TomTom has a good route planner that takes in to account roadworks etc. and will help with the route planning and timing.

Once again, take it easy, sit back, relax, put some good tunes on the ICE and enjoy the drive.

Sounds fair enough to me. If you've checked the basic vitals on the car then there's not much more you can do
Ludes munch the miles up pretty easily, so don't worry too much...

I fairly regularly do 500 miles between Cornwall and Edinburgh and it's really no biggie.

Seeing how far you can get on continuous cruise control is a good game for eating up the miles.

Don't you mean accidentally forget the phone charger and have no AA membership, a baggie of cocaína and your favourite gabber mix. Really go wild man, prep is for wet flannels.

Yup, if you need to worry about doing a long journey in your car, then... well, what's the point in having the car? It's what they're designed for.
