Modified 3g on the bay... A word of warning!

This one...

Looks good, in all the current 'scene' ways. It is a lot of money though.

Beyond style, there is probably a good reason it's been matt blacked all over and had wide arches put on... I went to see this one when it was a standard lude for sale on eBay previously, in this listing (totally different seller I hasten to add - he was a very decent guy):
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 47&alt=web

The car drove very well, driveline and suspension were all good, but the shell was rotten, little bits all over but also some major bits. IMO (and that of the seller back then) it would not have passed another MOT without work to the sills, at least. There was also major rot all over the roof around the sunroof (i mean major), and other bits of rot all round the car (literally - only the bonnet, bootlid and one door were rust free) in difficult to repair places on the shell. If I tell you we were talking around £400 for it without the Renault turbines (and only that high because it had nearly a full MOT, low mileage and all the running gear was good) that should give you an idea of condition...

Rust isn't mentioned on the new add, so I assume it must all have been 'sorted'?
Maybe... It's all been done properly (!) but considering the only way to repair the roof in my (and the original sellers) opinion was to cut out the whole section from the a pillar to half way back towards the rear... That was a lot of work.

If anyone is interested in going to see it, I suggest taking a magnet with you and peeling back all the rubber trim and anything else that's been stuck onto the car... Look in the odd areas like scuttle panel under the screens. The front of one sill was good and the back of the other. Both rear arches were solid, but rusting (if that makes sense - rusty, but no holes and you couldn't put a key through them yet. Would have needed thorough rust treat and filler over to get back to smart before paint).

If you buy it unseen, be aware you'll probably have a lot of fun and get points at all the shows this year, but it will then fail an MOT and you'll be left licking your wounds (the massive outlay that is being asked for it).

FWIW, I was looking at buying it for parts with Lloyd off here (he wanted suspension), Phil possibly having the rear arches and merc the good bits of the sills. I would have kept the engine (1 spare b20a7 isn't enough  ) and it would have made sure we definitely had all the manual conversion bits for the other style auto blue one. Pretty much rest would have been for the bin and it wouldn't really have paid for itself.

Says it all...
The bumpers aren't even any good now they've had crap stuck to them and Matt blacked all over the original textured unpainted bits

I meant as future parts use, after it fails an MOT and gets broken. One of the good usable bits... Now drokked up!

I'm more frustrated by the original eBay add.

Next time I try to sell something I'm going to list "not baked beans, helecopter lessons..."
