Even with these VW diesels putting out what they currently are, they'll still pass any emissions test over here in the UK.

California has ridiculously strict emissions rules, some of the strictest in the world, and there are a number of cars which simply can't be sold there.

Although...

Germany's transport minister says Volkswagen has admitted using the same fake emissions test in Europe as it used to falsify results in the US.
<snip>
Mr Dobrindt said he had been told vehicles with 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel engines are "affected by the manipulations that are being talked about".

Knowing our government anyone that owns a VW will know be hammered for the extra they would have charged in vehicle tax under the real amount it produces instead of the claimed figures.

yar they might have the software but it'll never be activated Is what I think will be the case. Like having a lift with numbers to the 6th floor but you know the building only has 4 floors. Those floor buttons wont ever be used and are just 'there'. It'll come down to the reality that taking the softwar out of vehicles sold in the EU would cost money so why would you bother when it makes no difference?

Or so they thought :lol:

So they have put just under 7.5 BILLION aside for the fall out......... Thats some pretty deep pockets :|
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

Anyone see ITV news?

Some guy with an '02 Golf that he bought three years ago is claiming he's been misled and if it's recalled he wants compensation. Where does it stop? If anyone should be getting compensation then IMO it should be limited to those that purchased brand new. drokking scrubs.

VW have acted immorally and illegally, for no reason other than to reduce their cost in developing and manufacturing vehicles that actually meet the required limits, why should there be any restriction on claims? Can't have it both ways - if it's a capitalist world, it's a capitalist world.

:think: I have asthma. Maybe I should claim that VW's actions have caused me health problems and I am therefore entitled to compensation... :think:
;) :lol:

(Since these compensation claims are civil rather than criminal, the courts will of course be appplying reasonable judgement based on past commercial assessments and precedents, so in this country such claims are actually unlikely to succeed or extract much cash btw, so I wouldn't get too worried Donald ;) ).

Here's a quote from today's paper:

In 2010, LG Electronics agreed to compensate thousands of Australian customers after two of its fridges were found to contain an illegal device that activated an energy-saving mode under test conditions.

Meanwhile, Philips have been pressured into removing he word 'Eco' from their halogen light bulb packaging. The rationale seems to be that after the disappearance of incandescent bulbs from the market, halogens are now the worst performers in this respect
