Reasonable price to pay for driveshaft and CV replacement

As above, I'm just wondering what a reasonable price to pay for labour of replacing a NS driveshaft and an OS outer CV joint is? (On the Aerodeck.)

This is something I'd normally do myself, but having not much time to myself these days for this kind of thing I asked my mechanic neighbour if he'd do if for me. He gladly did the job and finished tonight, but when asking him how much he'd like for it, he said "However much I think it's worth"

Soooooo?... lol

We're talking mate's rates here by the way

I can't tell you how long it took either as I wasn't about for the whole time.

I don't know but I would put it back to him and say something like. "I don't know what to offer you but as a mate I don't want to insult you or expect you to work for peanuts,give me a price you would be happy with."

I have a feeling he'll just come back with "Ahh don't worry about it mate". When he or his son has helped me in the past they never ever want anything in return, they just say that's what neighbours are for.

I'm seriously blessed with these guys, but then I feel bad for asking them to do something as I know they're simply just happy to help. At the same time, I can't just give him a tenner as there's no way he can't think I'd be being a tight ass, but then I'm not made of money, so can't really afford £100 (which I know he'd give back)

£50-£60?

how about £40 and a couple of cases of beer a mechanic can charge anything from 25.00 an hour upwards

Well I paid 6x energy drinks (35p each) and 2 hotdogs (£2.09 for the 2) for my CV joint to be done, but I did do 90% of the work myself, and I pretty much get that combination for my mates at the garage every day I'm there anyways
