really gutted to hear that Nath
I think a lot of us have had that or similar done to us - I got done by a yank luder who arranged to post some part in return for me buying something from him but it never turned up, and he refused to speak to me after that

Nationwide are usually pretty good with stuff like this, hopefully you will get your money backNafemanNathan wrote:It's alright Iain, Stace provides those things... We just won't have a roof over our heads.
Cheers for the support guys. I'll be giving Nationwide another call come 9 o'clock to speak to their Special Investigations team. I'll keep you all informed

I'm not so sure. The Special Investigations Team said they can't do anything due to the nature of the incident (In that I willingly made the payment), but they suggested I contact the Police. The Police recommend I contacted Action Fraud who I've just got off the phone with, who have given me a crime reference number, so now I just have to play the waiting game.ATR84 wrote:Nationwide are usually pretty good with stuff like this, hopefully you will get your money backNafemanNathan wrote:It's alright Iain, Stace provides those things... I'm not holding high hopes. The Payment Recovery form Nationwide filled out for me last night literally just requests the money back from the account holder I paid it too. If he simply says no, then that's that, although Nationwide will then inform me of my legal options

And Action Fraud don't hold high hopes as they expect it was paid into a dodgey bank account anyway.
So I will reside to the fact that I'm not getting this money back, and if I do, bonus!
At least I had a payrise this month, which was back dated to January. I wasn't expecting the back-dated bit, and that just about covers what I've lost so look on the bright side ay? Lesson learned

Oh yeah, did you want me to send those seats?mart609 wrote:I got stung on PUK when I first signed up all those years ago for £200. not a nice feeling

Too soon?

Bad luck Nath, I feel your pain as we are both keen wheeler dealers on forums and ebay, and as LLL put it (wow I'm agreeing with him!), it ahs got us some great deals in the past but the guards of trust were well and truly down with 8 years of good buying and selling. Don't beat yourself up about it and I agree - Nationwide are a good establishment so will do their best to track this punk down. I assume it was a debit transaction then not a credit card?
Hope you get some payback from it. Or even better if the seats turn up?

Yeah, sadly it was a debit transaction. The guy was so friendly and convincing, when he said "at that price it would need to be through the bank." I didn't blink. I knew I was getting a steal, so understood why he wouldn't want to loose anything on fees. More fool me

But yeah, like you said, I've had several years of some serious bargains, and I know I've got more to come, so I'm looking on the bright side

Shitty luck, mate.
Sounds like you're taking it stoically. This kind of thing does tend to shake your faith, but hopefully not too much.
