success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm

I've heard Quinton belts are top quality alright. I've gone for gates, I would go for the racing belt but I just want to see if she will fire up, the belt never came in this morning, a mix up on part numbers on there side. So hopefully be here before 4 today. I will keep you all posted this evening.

Gates timing belt for 4th gen vtec is T226
would be interesting to see if the aftermarket manual tensioner is at fault
i bought one a while back and managed to find some specific instructions online on how to fit it - they also need some thread lock applied to the mounting bolts.
I wrote the fitting instructions down and could look them out if you want a double check

Hey thanks vanzep, nothing was at fault mechanically anyways. Just seems the belt wasn't up to scratch, it will be getting sent away for inspection from the autofactors,
So I fitted a new gates belt turning over fine by Hand, BUT no spark so can't even see if all is well. Turns out the ignition coil is buggered too, and of course 1 bolt onthe rocker cover snapped and another one is rung. All in a day's work, a tough day to say the least, it rained off and on all day too.
Will keep you all updated. I may just order an igniter and ignition coil for the distributor and rebuild it.

She lives, got it going Saturday morning. In plenty time for the Donegal rally
My 2 ignition coils where done. So was giving another 2 and guess what those where done too. So started to question myself but everything pointed to the coil, in a last ditch effort I tried one more coil and boom she fired up.
Cars running perfect even has a lightweight crank pulpy on now
