Re: Laser eye surgery
I've just got home and I think I'm convinced. They don't cut the eye with a scalpel any more(like in that vid), its all done by laser.
As for that Jude Law thing, I'm not sure, only one way to find out!

Yeah its super quick! 18 seconds to cut the flap and 20 seconds to laser the eye!VT3C RUNN3R wrote:My dad had this done about 9 years ago and hasnt had any issues. 1 1/2 mins for one eye, and 2 mins for the other. walked out about 45mins later and left his glasses behind for good.

I had laser eye surgery 2-3 years ago and apart from the expected symptoms which wore off I've been fine. Wish I had had it done years ago. No more specs or fiddly lenses.
Don't watch the videos of the procedure, they really are not for the faint hearted.
If you went to optical express for the consultation and are thinking of going ahead with it I have a money off voucher I can send you.
Dave.

I know someone that had this done and they were well pleased.
I'm blind without contacts (3 times better then 20-20 vision with them though, but I take the view of several others one here; it's still a pretty new procedure and I only have one pair of eyes and it's something they can't repair yet (bring on all that stem cell goodness research!). I don't mind wearing lenses at all and have been since I was something like 14 I think so I'll be sticking with them.
I might only consider it when I reach the point that I can't wear lenses anymore (I absolutely despise wearing glasses, particularly having seen how much better the focus and image is with lenses).
If you go ahead, I hope all goes well and you're pleased with the results though.

I'm long sighted, only found out a few years back that struggling to see stuff up close wasn't normal
I'm used to not wearing glasses as a result, however I don't mind wearing glasses when required.
I'm starting to find my eyesight is getting worse for long distance too, I struggle to read a computer monitor at work when I'm standing over a colleague's shoulder for instance. I'll be getting new glasses though, I don't think I'd want surgery when tbh most modern frames are well designed. I think my current ones look pretty good
As for how safe the surgery is, I don't see cause for concern. As far as I'm aware medical regulations here are very tight, just look at the periods drugs are tested for. If there was significant risk of long or short term health effects then I find it doubtful laser surgery would be allowed.
Eye stuff makes me proper drokking squeamish though!

Re: Laser eye surgery
I have to wear my glasses all the time now and it knocks my confidence as well as being quite restrictive at times when doing certain things. I've tried a few different contact lenses and I can't seem to get on with them and they are also quite pricey, especially as I require a toric lense
