Hmm, I could potentially manage a trip to Yeovil..
Well just let me know bud :)

I do!! Do I get the points?

Thanks for all the kind offers @honda-hardy, @nafemannathan, but I cannot make it. My bargain Civic is a piece of jobby - the 'knackered wheel bearing' turns out to be a knackered auto 'box   So I'm now out even more drokking money!!

:( Well that sucks! Going to get it fixed, sell it, or scrap it?

You might be able to get your money back if you choose to sell it identifying the fault. It's an ideal candidate for a manual conversion after all ;)

Then you can spend the money you had intended spending on wheel bearings on fuel and a ticket to Japfest! :D ;)

It's too good to scrap. I'm gonna leave it with my mate for a minute while looking for a local 'box. I'm not convinced though, it deffo sounds like a wheel bearing.. more investigations are needed, I believe!!

Who diagnosed it?

I had a local garage look at my Aerodeck once because it was making a horrible noise on full lock. He diagnosed it as the gearbox and said it needed replacing but the car probably wasn't worth the effort ( ). I wasn't convinced, so swapped out the driveshaft for a new one and it cured it ;)

Needless to say, I don't rely on that garage for diagnostics anymore ;-) ... In fact I don't think I've been there since!

My mate is a mechanic. His helper friend drove it to the garage and said GEARBOX FAILURE.. my mechanic has had a look and is not convinced. Although there is no play in the wheel, he says it still sounds like a wheel bearing. He's going to swap the bearing anyway and see if that solves the problem.. local motor factors can get me one tomorrow for £38 including vat. Honda can get me one for next monday for £90 +vat - from Belgium! I'll go local haha

So, I need everyone that reads this to send me positive gearbox thoughts and negative wheel bearing thoughts, please. Something along the lines of "Live, gearbox, live! Die, wheel bearing, die!" Not the other way round, I REALLY don't want to have to replace the 'box! Thanks in advance..
