So after a minor disagreement with a curb due to faulty 4ws, my car looked like this:
Image
Smashed the wheel up pretty good, and was bent inwards as you can see when it should have been straight.

I decided to replace the whole lot at the back end with a 2ws subframe:

got everything bolted on and the new wheels on and got her back on the ground. took me a good few days to get it all done as the weather was crap and i had a stinking cold.
i think i preferred the old wheels, but might paint the new ones black as i think it will look better. And i need to get center caps for them.

The rear drivers side wheel was still a bit wonky when the work was done, so right now she is in a garage having the alignment and whatnot checked. fingers crossed she will come back ok.

I think the black wheels did look good against the red, yes. New ones would look fine with the car lowered a bit I reckon. Such big rims, small sidewall really show up the arch gap.

Like the way the skirts match into the front lip (same sort of shape at the bottom).

Yeah lowering would look good, but i scrape the bumper enough as it is, not sure i could handle being any lower! lol.
And i need to go and see about a rear bumper that might suit the car this week, as the line going right up on the back bumper always annoyed me with the kit on the car!

So i just picked the car up, and the front toe was out by over 7mm. not good! they adjusted everything but the dodgy back wheel. they said the toe adjusting bolt was seized. they said it might go with a breaker bar but didnt want to risk snapping the bolt.

Its driveable now but i need to sort the toe on the drivers rear. will get a bar on it when i can be bothered and go from there.
i guess worst case scenario i will have to replace the control arm on that side.

Im happy with that, she lives to see another day and hopefully wont be scrapped for a long while yet! :D

well done Bludge - think of the weight youve saved doing the 2ws conversion and you wil never have to worry about the 4ws fualt light coming on again :)
I would get hold of a lca and a new bolt and get them replaced asap.
Will be interesting to see what you what you think of the handling with the new set up.

Thanks, yeah it will be joyous not having to see that light anymore! lol.

Im hoping i wont hae to replace anything, they said all they used was a spanner and another spanner to try and get it off and didnt want to use too much force in case the bolt snapped and i quote; "because thats not something i want to have to deal with on a saturday afternoon"
Im hoping it will go easy enough with my 1/2" ratchet, and if that fails will get a bar on it.

And talking of the rear bumper and the line of the car with the bodykit, i went and picked this up today for £15. im hoping it will suit the rest of the kit once its been painted. its a bit beat up, but that just means it will fit in with the rest of the car! lol.

Im not sure what the new rims are, and the guy i bought them from didnt know either! will have to have a look and see if there is any indication on the wheels.

Im starting to warm to them now actually, still might try and paint them black, but will see how its all looking after getting the "new" bumper on! :D
