Start of engine bay dress up

Post by newkid » Wed Sep 16, 2015 6:13 pm

Ordered some new manifold studs with the blue washers and after a little chat with @vanzep decided they probably wouldnt be the way to go for holding the fujitsubo on. Luckily for me they sent the wrong parts and I ended up with these. I know there not genuine pwjdm but look the exact same so cant grumble.

Managed to get both headlights done and both radiator stays. The plan is to eventually change all of them to this style.

Only took a pic of passenger side but gives you an idea.

Now since I've obviously started the engine bay can I ask whats the best products to clean all the dirt and grime that's in there. Not expecting it to be spotless but better than it currently is. @w1ggz you might be able to help with this?

not trying to put you off using aftermarket parts :)
id use what youve got to dress up the rads mounts on either side and the cooling plate when you get round to fitting it ;)

if W1ggz has some good info on how to clean up the bay without splashing loads of water about then you can tell me or even better clean my bay once youve practiced on your lude

I'm going to pick up a few small bottles today from my supplier to send a little package up to newkid, once I've got them I'll put up a description of what I'm sending and how to use :)

@w1ggz cheers bud, really appreciated

@wurlycorner cheers fan arrived today, total  moment from me tho, should have actually checked the spacing on the rad instead of just presuming it was ukdm fitment  , turns out its inbetween both so I'll be going down the slimline route.

EDIT: That is actually quite a crap state of affairs though, that they've made a rad for the car (mounting positions etc fit correctly) but the fan mounts are completely bollocks

 is it spaced for a 5g fan?

More Spoonage

Post by newkid » Thu Sep 24, 2015 11:46 pm

Was offered the chance to get a spoon rear strut to match the front, due to recent money spent on the car it was outwith my reach at the present time so Mum kindly offered to get me it as an early xmas present so couldn't refuse the chance.

Image

Arrived today so since its an easier part to fit/change the old brace was off and the spoon one fitted.

Need to thank @donald for offering it in the first place and for the quick delivery. Cheers bud.

Also that now means there's 3 full sets on 4th gens up in scotland that I know off, myself, @merlin and @vanzep.

Would be good if we could actually find out who all has a front and rear spoon brace fitted.

Don't worry I have all the boot lining parts to fit off the last 4th gen I broke just haven't got round to fitting them yet.
