Re: lucas' 4th gen - wire tuck update

Post by lucas » Mon Jun 03, 2013 11:14 pm

well today was a productive day !

got quite a bit done with the wire tuck;

fuse box done (apart from the battery and starter connections)
widow wiper wires tucked
most engine bay wires have been re routed from the bay, through the wing, and under the dash..
and a general tidy up ;)

here are the pics of the section I had to cut out the dash to fit the fuse box from the other day.
used this wee gem of a dremel !

started off stripping all the wire organisers this morning 8-)

then started organising out the wires to reroute them

Image

Image

this is the unnecessary length of most of the wires !

Image

then started to feed them into the car

Image

Image

ended up with this lot

wee took the bung for the window wiper from here..
Image

to here, which is where most of the wired will be re routed to
Image

started taping up the wiper wires with loom tape, amazing stuff and a MUST if your doing this sort of job !
Image

got the wiper motor in and the wire tucked through the water drain.. its held up with a cable tie and its been water proofed

this is where is comes out ;)

not sure where i want to move this to... so a question !
does anyone know if these NEED to be in the bay?
only reason i ask is because they have vacuum hosed and one has a weird wee filter :?
Image

the bracket will be replaced with this
Image

soldering some wires :D
Image

and the end result for today :D
Image

and the excess !
Image

still alot to do in the inside, but thats the outside done :)

and as i was also working on donnas civic my garden looked like this by the end of the day lol

Page 11-10 of the manual.

I think the lower thing is the Purge Control Solenoid Valve and the upper thing is the MAP sensor? (don't loose that!!!)

Yeah, if you've done away with the carbon canister you can do away with the purge valve, although disconnecting it will probably through up the engine light. And yeah the other is your map sensor.

cool stuff, i will keep it just incase, since the wire is already extended ;)
so its safe to keep it inside the car.. ie above the glove box or something ?

ah right the 4th gen has map sensor on that bit...

you could relocate the map sensor, as long as it still goes to the throttle body
