You're lucky you have someone in work to do it. I've had my spare shaved rocker and a pack of AN10 weld on ports just sitting there for an age (like the rest of the car!). Looks a nice little setup to add to your rear AN rocker ports.

Bonnet Raisers Fitted

Post by NafemanNathan » Thu Jul 25, 2013 11:59 pm

Fit my Tegiwa 25mm bonnet raisers earlier this evening (I will add I didn't buy them from Tegiwa, I refuse to  )...

Image

Image

Reason for them being... I have bonnet struts, but the bonnet forces them to touch on the side of the front wings and as such causes a moisture trap and corrode. Lifting the bonnet 25mm means the bonnet should no longer touch on the struts.

So I've removed the struts temporarily to tart them back up again, therefore I'm currently reliant on a broom to prop the bonnet open  ...

Image

And bonnet down, she looks beefy 8) ...

The main purpose for raisers though is too allow a bit more airflow through the engine bay, so it's win win win! :)

Image

You may have also noticed I've fitted the Wings West skirts back on...

Image

This is because the Value Sport Type 2 skirt reach up the front wings and in front of the rear arches, which restricts what I want to do with my front arches and what I think I want to do with the rears. However the Wings West ones stay below the line, and I think they'll suit what I want to pull off better...

Image

And I'm definitely confident I can flare the front arches enough Rob...

Image

The rears will be a little more difficult, but I don't think they'll be far off. But the rear of the car is looking a little minimal compared to the rest of the car anyway, so I have something in mind to sort that ;-)

I had the catch can and those AN- fittings before Max was even expected, so that's best part of 3 years!

I can always upgrade to a Blackworks jobbie in the future, but this option is much much cheaper and still looks rather appealing ;-)
Just though because BWR and B&R made such solid pieces that the whole piece must be strong.
When you use 'just' a Weapon-R base, my thought were that that body might be less strong then the other brands.

But when it works, it works :D

Nice work on the bonnet raisers aswell ;)

In all fairness Edson, it's only a catch can - it only needs to be so strong.

Good work on the Bonnet risers, good ole broom handle strikes again!

Have you seen these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Telesc ... 0750795222

Think it might be the answer for mine too. :D

Cheers :)

Yeah I'm not worried about the strength of the Weapon-R catch can. It's more than adequate, better made than most ebay jobbies, still looks the part, and it's light too ;-)

Threads iv read but not prelude related say bonnet raisers make things worse and actually increase under bonnet temperatures.

I'm not entirely convinced that rule applies to all cars (modified cars anyway), and I'm fairly confident I'll be taking ample steps to avoid that chap's concerns. I'm not stubborn enough to stick with them for the sake of sticking with them though, so when the car is running I'll perform the ribbon test and see how things fair. If they suck (literally) then they'll go. As said, the reason I got them is to prevent my bonnet stutts being mashed :)
