It's still a little controversial as to whether the design is a winner, but the theory in my head is that it expels the gases a lot quicker. You know if you have a cola bottle and fill it with water to rinse it out? Say the bottle is half full... If you just tip it upside down, it takes ages for the water to glug out right? But if you put the same amount of water in the bottle and give it a quick spin as you invert it, the whirlpool effect makes the water pour out much much faster and much much smoother as well. I believe the curls in the manifold give the gases the same characteristics (Imagine a water park flue ride). And as all the runner's initial curls curl in the same direction as well, so it should make for a nice entwinement of gases at the -1 section.wurlycorner wrote:What is meant to be the benefit of the curly bits on these styles of manifold btw?
