Was this not the original engine that was in the car then?

What oil were you running?

No my last engine spun a crank bearing from oil starvation and reground crank. Mahle pistons etc. Previous owner rebuilt. However I didn't expect such rapid oil consumption back in 2007.

I used gulf comp 10w40 on this new engine. When rich put the New new engine in he did use the cams from my old engine due to wear. So could have been on it's way our before I worsed it with the supercharger.

Only expense spared on this build is darton dry sleeves instead of the mid wet sleeves. Was a whole £1k more for the wets.

Sorry, I'm even more confused now  So this has had 2 different engines already?
1. Original engine (which was re-built by the previous owner, re-ground crank, mahle pistons etc.)
2. Another (different? used?) engine fitted under your ownership by PAW, but using the cams from engine 1.

Engine 1 you had swapped with engine 2 due to high oil use in engine 1.
Have I got that right now? :D

How comes the cams from engine 1 were used in engine 2? Was it not a complete engine? Was anything else done at that time?

Yep you got it right.
Engine 2 showed signs of wear when rich opened the head to change the belts and pump etc. There was debris in the vtec solenoid and wear on the cams. The cams out of engine 1 were in better condition so he put them in.

Engine 2 was obviously worn elsewhere.
Putting the supercharger on with the lean tune didn't help and the burning oil/ starvation finished it off.
Engine 2 was bought low millage 40k. However it had unknown history but did run fine before cebul and I took it out back in 2012. I took the risk. If I stayed na chances are the engine would have been fine.

Rebuilt and in the Car

Another update courtesy of Rich @ Performance Autoworks.
There have been some niggles to sort mainly with the massive Skunk 2 throttle body, stuff being in the way of the extended Merc racing inlet and my own failed attempt at mounting an extra idler which wasn't straight.

Pics and short description.

Extra pulley is a little too close and catches when engine runs

Richs improved smaller pulley to help reduce potential belt slip.

Custom intake manifold support bracket as the supercharger adds a bit of weight to it.

Rich is now starting on the tuning, minor issues and deciding how to tackle the water injections system as hes never used it before. Will update on how he gets on.

So far well worth the effort.
