More bad news

Post by newkid » Mon Aug 17, 2015 11:31 am

Yet more bad news, car was reversed into last night in Tesco's car park, slight damage to rear quarter, guy couldn't have been anymore apologetic. Its not a huge dent but showed to me why the passenger rear arch was starting to bubble up, its only got a skim of catty over the old rust

I'll get a pic up later of the damage but I'm looking at it positively with it showing me how the arch really is.

After how the insurance worked out with my old 5th gen I gave the guy two options, one i could get a quote or two we could go through the insurance as he admitted fault. We decided on a settlement of £100 which may not seem a lot but it will go towards having some fresh metal put in. Yes thats right for once I'm not going to break a lude

£100.

If your happy then fine. But I'd tripple that to be happy. It's very much a custom colour you have.

I guess if that part of the arch was going to be cut out anyway then it is a free £100?

yeah and the insurance company will write it off and i suppose if you ask for more than £100 the guy might think its worth going to the insurance company

Also, in all honesty it's so unusual to hear of somebody being apologetic/helpful after damaging your car that you kind of don't want to punish someone for doing the right thing and not legging it/being difficult. Mine still has the wound from where it got hit end to end and the person drove off without leaving their details!

Still a shame to hear about it happening to your car though mate :( hope you get it sorted without too much trouble/expense.

Yea merc's right I didn't fancy another one being written off. Took a pic of the damage but as you can see its kind of been a blessing in disguise as the outer arch is rotten and been skimmed over to hide it. The inner is solid and the drivers side has no rust at all.

Been intouch with @judderod and I'm buying his arch he has as its the side I need and saves whoever does it having to fab an arch up.
