Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
Yeah I'm pretty pleased with it, I was really paranoid they wouldn't work because the black steels that I had on the bB when I first got it were originally for the 'deck but they poked so much, 15x8et0!wurlycorner wrote:Yeah that sits there pretty well, doesn't it!
Obviously the new wheels will be 1/2 inch wider but I'm planning to use the same tyre size - I might even roll the arches a little more just to cover the tread too.
Ha I know!!! I'm aiming for Mimms in April but that's a long shot... Hopefully thoughprahunt wrote:Hurry up with this Becca.

See your progress on Facebook and it is definitely making progress now. Looking forward to seeing it on the road again.

I have a birthday present coming up (which I totally don't know about already, of course

Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
A few small updates...
Firstly the wheels turned up - yay! (don't worry they won't be staying white!!!)

But on fitting them I realised that my calculations were inaccurate - I didn't factor in that the rears naturally poke more, which as far as I've known is fairly unusual for a FWD car. The wheels are 100% not staggered, the difference looks a lot more though because there's a lot more natural camber on the front.
Fronts sit flush with the arches tread wise, just legal, with a 205/50/15 (a little too narrow for my liking but all that's available unfortunately). I'll be going with a 205/45/15 when it's actually on the road, it's sitting on the old Enkei tyres for now.

Rears unfortunately poke 3/4 of an inch to an inch (that's just tread poke, wheel itself pokes further).

Tested 'eyebrow' style arch flares, like rhino lip etc, with some double sided tape so excuse how awful it looks. Still unsure which route to take to legalise it.

Also gave it a good clean last weekend to get rid of all the residue left from the fire.

Got another broadway for my birthday
along with my foglights (no pictures of those yet).

And also for our 5yr anniversary Bruce is getting me a cam regrind
So here's the head being stripped down.

ABS system has also been removed now. Realised why it hadn't been working when it started squirting out thick foamy brake fluid
you need a special tool to bleed the ABS system on these so it's probably never been done except for the first few years of Honda service history if it needed it.
What do you lot think about getting the rears legal? Full over fenders, the bolt on kind. Or 'Rhino lip' which is like a rubbery lip people use for splitters or arches, so it'll just be a lip sticking out from under the arch... And what do I do about the lack of poke at the front, over fenders to match the rear but then have a lot of poke, try to find some narrower but matching over fenders. Or trim the rhino lip? Any other ideas I'm open to!

Re: Spare-O-Deck 1989
Probably Piper, just because they have a good reputation as far as I know. Bisimoto offer it specifically for the A20A4 but obviously, shipping to AND from US bumps the price up but they list their specs so I'm hoping to give the specs to Piper so they can match the stage 3 Bisimoto do (20% increase) and then just get the uprated valve springs from Bisimoto to go with it (I think they still offer them for the A20 but you have to email them, if they don't do them anymore I'll probably have to go for a lesser regrind and OEM springs)wurlycorner wrote:I do like those wheels(if not how they sit on the car...)

Love the wheels. Can't remember what they are now, but I almost got a set of the one piece versions for my 3rd gen.
Didn't you have a set of arches to go on this, or are they for your other deck? I definitely don't like those rhino lips. I'd go for the bolt of drift style arches and body colour them. I'd leave the fronts as is. Can you not pull and roll the rear arches?
