This should mean I can get the wheel alignment guy to dial out the castor issue I have. The bad thing is I may have to leave it untill after round 3 to fit them as I have a load of suspension tweaks to do at the same time. I'll put the engine mounts in soon though.

Is that a different rug or is it just the colour balance?

 No new rug I am afraid. Just me not being bothered to set up camera up correctly ;)

About £500 for the traction bar and engine mounts shipped from the US and including customs charges.

On a side note I am now getting really sick of people who cant do their job properly  I ordered a pair of Rainsport 2's in 215/40/17 XL's for this car. I want to have a good set of wet tyres. RS3's are not on the MSA approved tyres list yet. My RS2's arrived today and the chumps sent me 215/45/17 and non-XL versions  Really, how hard is it? Now I have a pair of tyres in my office funking up the place with new rubber honk!

Blower Pt1

Post by Merlin » Sat May 03, 2014 10:27 pm

Thankfully it was good weather at the last round of SLS. Knowing there is a high chance of rain at Knockhill I need to get a new front blower sorted. In December I had to stop a track day because I couldnt see where I was going in the rain.

I am basing my blower system around a 3" exit bilge fan for a boat. £17 on Ebay. In all I think the kit is about 1.5kg.

Image

The 4th gen has its front screen air channels built into the chassis so there is one big hole to direct air through
Image

Likewise there is the outside air feed hole
Image

I had to cut out a base for the pipe flanges to connect to so they are able to blow air without a load of leaks. I used 2mm perspex.

Front window vent with the flange dropped in to test the fitting.
Image

Completed outside air feed. I didnt need to use the jubilee clips as the 3" pipe was such a tight fit that I need to use boiling water to strech it on. Once cooled I cant even pull it off.

The fan is half in and I need to sort the wiring. I have a switch for it in my centre console.

Nice work.

Might possibly need to fit a baffle above the outlet hole, to make sure it does distribute the air outwards into the duct, rather than just getting a massive blast in the middle of the screen?

Yeah it does blow quite centrally at the moment but will have to wait and see if that does the job.

I didnt need to take the dash out. Lots of lying on the floor though.
