I imagined this too, great minds ;) if it's still not well tomorrow I'll swap them over. The 2G is all finished bar a downpipe and new belts and PS fluid though so I'm loathe to start ripping apart again is all

Otherwise, like you say, 8 years is a long time without a change.
If the weather lets up I'll get out and check it over. Problem is it may all have dried by then.

I guess it's just time I pulled my finger out and did a full service

To eBay!!!

If you did get ingress, it should still be wet inside. ;)

This could also be a vaccum leak or restriction in the air intake (collapsing or partially blocked).
Suggest checking the inlet plenum and filter for blockages and spraying round the inlet system with carb cleaner while the engine's running, just to see if it's either of them - quick easy checks.

Right, I've swapped the ignition coil over from my Prelude, and so far so good :) Cheers Nath ;)

I'll be ordering 2 new ignition coils now, one for the Accord and one for the Prelude, which should hopefully keep them firing for a few more years :) I'll be getting new ignition leads and spark plugs too, as the ones currently fitted are probably a bit past it.

Iain, the air intake is all good but you're quite right in that the vacuum hoses have all seen better days. My Golf was the same, no splits but aged pipes, and when I replaced them all it did run smoother - it does run a very complex vacuum operated autochoke carb though. But in the interest of good practice I'm ordering new vacuum hose which I can replace all the hoses with, as they may well have turned porous by now. Plus shiny new hoses look nice anyway.

At any rate, the Accord seems to be ok now, so cheers all - glad to have you guys here! :)

Been out and about in the rain today - it's wet enough that my PS belt is slipping, but so far no running problems like I had before. I'm feeling optimistic :)
