It doesn't though does it, because of the flange on the end of the nut that you knock down into the dipple to lock it off.

This is the rear, rather than front, but should be same principle? :?

Not having threads exposed outside the end of the nut (1.5 min IIRC?) wouldn't meet common engineering standards for fastenings and I'd be surprised if Honda hadn't designed it as much?

I can't remember what the front end is like on our ludes though...

(Also surprised if there's any difference between ABS and non-ABS driveshaft though! :think: )

EDIT:
It's the same. Pics of the front on Lisa's;

I'm using ABS driveshafts on my non-ABS 'Lude and they fit fine, hub nuts do up tight etc.. the only difference that is blatantly obvious is the additional toothed ring.

Not as far as I'm aware, well not by me anyway. My 4th is a 94 and I got driveshafts from a late 91 4th gen import.. I think I read somewhere on a 4 to 5 lug hub conversion guide that 5th gen shafts will fit a 4th gen but are a slightly different length (I could be making that up though) so maybe you have 4th gen ABS shafts on your 5th, @Merlin?
