Tried it this morning.

Unfortunately in PARKED mode (automatic), the rev are higher and dosent vibrate much.

So didnt noticed any untoward noises from engine....will have to find someone to sit in car in DRIVE mode with foot brakes on for me to listen to engine ...
Or park it on the flat in neutral?

... Or find the perfect incline to pop it in first and be able to get out? ;)

Yeah, my 3g doesn't go anywhere if it's in drive with the handbrake applied, or anywhere if it's just on a slight incline.
It wouldn't be the safest way to test it though, admittedly!

Someone mentioned AUTO CHOKE on another thread

Could that be that problem?

No.
a) Your car is a PGMI, so it doesn't have an auto choke (only carb models have an auto choke).
b) The auto choke just alters the fuel/mixture (richer when cold, leans out as it warm up) so wouldn't have anything to do with the engine noise. It would just affect fuel consumption/emissions/idle speed.

Edit, sorry, I thought this was the thread about the noise, not the one about idle speed
So yes, faulty auto choke could cause low idle when the car is cold, which would give vibration.
But point a) is still valid - you don't have auto choke, so it still isn't that :D
