If you are looking at a Jackson Racing SC you wont need to buy a new IM as the JRSC replaces the top half of the OEM IM.

Also you'll probably find it difficult to put 350-400 bhp down in a 3rd gen as they're so light.

Na, don't worry about that mate. Beefier tyres & we'll be golden!

Might do on the project engine, but that's a good 18 months away.

Want to get a decent na setup going till then, so the aforementioned parts will do just fine. ;)

So is this project now going:
Standard H22A
Modified H22A N/A build
Modified H22A supercharger build.

It's your money and your car of course matey, but the middle option is a lot of money for not a very long time? Wouldn't it be better to skip the middle step and then you'll get to the last step quicker?

1 & 3.

Get the h22 in there to start with, then start building a project supercharged build on a different engine. Once it's finished about 12 months later; one out - one in. ;)

well a jrsc setup is gonna see you the nasty side of 5k and a high comp n/a build wont really be compatible with the blower which will mean another engine

Yep, agreed.

I think I'll concentrate on the initial setup first, which will consist of;

H22A
S2 IM
S2 TB
ATR Cams
Decent plugs, leads, & oil
Complete 2.5" custom exhaust - when I can afford it.

Then I'll start building the project engine over a period of 12-18 months - which I'll decide on which way to go, when the time comes.

That's my plan atm. ;)

There's honestly no real point in throwing your money at these items IMO if you're ultimately going to discard them. They'll only run well with a proper tune as well, so that'll be more wasted money.

Simply dropping a standard H22a into a 3rd gen is going to give you a big enough gain as it is. Mine is supposedly 150bhp (minus a few bhp over the years) and it's not slow by any means. Even Ratty said he had trouble keeping up with me when we pulled away from the vantage point at the national meet, and I wasn't even really trying :|

I'd say go standard H22a, and then if you must, SC a second engine to feel the full benefit. Although I still feel 300+ brake will be too much for such a light car. I'm going to be mod'ing my engine (your engine if we end up doing a deal) and hoping towards 200bhp, and I know that will fly 8)

Yeah, you make a good point mate. Maybe I should just hang on for the upgraded parts. It's just that it'll be 18 months of driving till I have the project engine ready, so the £650 in parts for at least 10bhp gains will be worth it in my mind over that time scale.

Plus, it's only money!

I have no commitments, and earn a half decent wage, so what the hell. :)

At least that way I'll know if the mods live up to their claims, and I can share my findings with other members one way or the other. ;)

Win win!
