Clutch Master And Slave Cylinders?

Post by rob quilter » Wed Mar 09, 2016 5:17 pm

The past few days I've noticed my clutch pedal feeling a bit sloppy. I checked to fluid level and it was low, I then looked in the foot well to see fluid leaking from the master cylinder.

So obviously I'm going to replace both. But I'd like people's opinions on which to get, it's a simple system so is there much point in paying more?

EBay prices for both (Unknown brand) around £55.
Local motor factors for both (pagid) £90.

I'm not even going to bother looking at Honda ass rape prices

Both places are selling them with a 2 year warranty, which do I go for?

This is actually the Honda prices story I end up telling....

Way back, probably ten years at least, my clutch master cylinder went.
Called Honda for a guide price, was around £150 + vat.
Called all parts (local blueprint suppliers) £55 Inc vat.
Bought it of course, turns out it was the exact same oem nissin part. So you pay Honda over £100 for a box... that goes in the bin.

It's still going strong btw!

I went with a pagid master cylinder about a year ago (give or take), just ordered a 25 quid ebay jobby today cause the pagid is leaking into the footwell....

Granted its only minor but im having really issues with gear changes lately so im hoping that replacing it will help.

*EDIT* oh and i would like to point out that im normally a fan of pagid. its what i always use for brakes on both cars, was disappointed to find the MC failing so soon.

I went for Pagid for both. No trouble with mine as of yet.
