Ok, interested here to know if it's genuinely that bad?

Reason for asking is that a recruitment agency tried to convince me to go for a job up there.
I was put off primarily by the location, but that was without knowing the area too well - it wasn't that I thought it would be a jobby-hole, just that it was a big up-sticks for me and I couldn't think of anything that attracted me to the area, for the sake of all that hassle.
