Thanks for the heads up. I should be fine as I am not the first to be using one of these. Dino had one I am sure. If it does become a problem I could look into getting a swirl pot or something.

Engine starts!

Post by Merlin » Wed Oct 23, 2013 9:29 am

She is up and running now. After letting her warm up properly and doing a tiny adjustment to the accelerator cable she happily idles at 1k rpm. Initially there was a load of crap that came out of the exhaust but after running for 10 mins this cleared up. The engine had been sitting unused for over a year. The oil got up to temp and circulated round my oil cooler. You could feel the heat in the oil cooler radiator, and my gauges were displaying good.

The car still warming up. The wrapped manifold was smoking like a bitch

All warned up and sounding smooth so I gave her a few light blips.

The front of the car is all built up; wings, bumper, bonnet all on. Tonight the car will be driven for the first time :scaredtoss: I have to do that break in procedure for the LSD and then swap the Kaaz gearbox fluid for my home brew concoction.

Many thanks. I am mega chuffed

Donald I am not setting myself a date as once it is road worthy it still needs 300 miles or so to bed in the clutch. It might need a wheel alignment, plus I have minor issues such as rewiring my rear heated screen and how to clear moisture from my windscreen, both of which are going to give me problems if I want to drive it over the winter. Knockhill have track days every other week just about so I can go up any time I like 8-)

I'd love to see this on track. Well done on getting it completed mate. We will have to find a place soon to get all the track ludes on at the same time that would be a great site

My track Crx is fitted with a de-mist fan underneath the stripped dash, but I've found that
once on the move, even in the wet, that I don't need it on. I've only used it so far to try
& cool me down :)
