clutch has gone! :(

Post by Rob_Cool1 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:54 pm

Omg really not good :( release bearing I think failed on the way to work today, had to slam it into gear to drive it which was fun -.- the clutch cable is at its max adjustment limit too so that's why the release bearing was 'noisy'
The clutch pedal went solid, I pressed it quite hard, heard a dink now the pedal feels like it's only resistance is the spring. So I think the clutch plate has gone too -.-

Going to get it towed to work, can't go on a flat bed cos it's too low at the front and get the whole clutch done.

Not looking good atm, problem after problem! :( found the leak too, coming from one of the cam seals so ordered a couple of those. How easy are they to change?

What a start 2014 has been LOL, hopefully will be done in time for Saturday though

heck, your not having much luck, are you, shame you've had so many problems, may just be clutch cable, if you're lucky

Yeah I checked the cable, it all still functions fine but where the adjustment bit is its right at the end of the thread :/
I think it is the release bearing as it was advertised as being noisy so I think this ones my fault for not addressing it earlier :( would it be worth changing the clutch cable too or shall I adjust it back out when the new clutch goes in?

Mine was adjusted to the end of its travel before I changed the clutch, I've not replaced it as after re-adjusting it on the new clutch it works ok (on my driveway at least). Have you tried adjusting your clutch cable btw? Simplest solutions first and all that.

Oh man :-( Sorry to hear of another problem.

 I've forgotten to sort out that injector stuff from the book. I will get round to it - though I know that's low down your priorities again right now!

Yeah tried adjusting it but it wasn't having any of it. I couldn't get it into gear without reving it and forcing it in on the way to work then once I was moving I had to crash it into gear (not good for the gearbox I know :() then something broke on the way back as even out of gear idling the engine was struggling like the clutch was somehow engaged? Hopefully the flywheel is ok lol.
I was thinking of just doing the release bearing if the rest of the clutch is ok as it is uprated but will do it all to be on the safe side.
I'm going to have to start using my house saving money now  who needs to move out anyway! Lol

That's alright lol, yeah right now that's going to have to wait, as well as painting the rocker cover.

Does anyone know what the cam seals are like to change? got those turning up tomorrow which when fitted will hopefully cure all oil leaks!!
