Hang on guys... The way I read the first post, it sounds like the engine isn't turning over (i.e. starter motor not operating), rather than it is turning over but not firing.
is that right Wayne?
If so, that has nothing to do with the main relay? That's either the starter motor, battery terminals/engine grounds, or ignition switch.
Next time it doesn't start Wayne, give the starter motor a really good whack (or 2) with a big heavy spanner. Could be short/sticking brushes or a sticking solenoid.
Unless I've read the op wrong and everyone else has read it correctly, of course...

I've always wondered how you get into your car actually...mercutio wrote:well I am pretty good at the heavy stuff but my hands are a little big for the finesse stuff they don't fit well into cramped spaces in the engine bay or interior![]()
That's a good point Iain. I just took it as it wasn't firing, but you're right. Need to confirm Wayne.wurlycorner wrote:Hang on guys... The way I read the first post, it sounds like the engine isn't turning over (i.e. starter motor not operating), rather than it is turning over but not firing.
