It's more flammable than a water based coolant, yep. But nothing like as flammable as petrol or even diesel, so it's the least of the worries under the bonnet
On a new build that's going to be driven hard, I reckon using the Evans stuff sounds like a good thing to do?

My problem with running it in my cars is that I couldn't be sure I'd reach 97% purity (extraction of water) and the cost (I can't see me not having to change something on the cooling system in that time, so lifetime lasting doesn't help there).

I do want better corrosion protection though, given that I have lots of cars lots of them unfortunately sit around for ages (not good for the cooling systems so I've been thinking of running this in addition to standard antifreeze;

Much cheaper and should do the job I need, nicely.

have you taken the gearbox out and had a look at the old clutch and flywheel?
would be interesting to see whats gone wrong...
It is happening very soon. I have come to the suspicion that the Fidanza alloy flywheel and Competition Clutch pressure plate have come apart again. So to save time (and eventually money) I am binning the lot and buying new. The only part I am keeping is my ARP flywheel bolts. I have since heard a few negative stories about the Fidanza alloy flywheel.

This arrived today, Competition Clutch Forged Steel Ultra Lightweight (4.08kg) flywheel

Through experience I knew to check what the timing marks looked like before I install it

Some other bits I have got that is needed to install the new bits, new OEM pressure plate bolts and ARP assembly lube.

That flywheel looks the biz 8-)

im sure the fidanza one looked very different in design
maybe more suited to fast road and not up to the hammering you give it out on track ;)

p.s love the clear timing marks :)

Nice, I got one of these but think it might be a little ott for road use, I have the cc lightweight one for the crx but haven't fitted that yet either so don't have much for comparison.

Also I believe the fidanza on is of partly aluminium construction, that's why it looks different to the competition clutch one. I much prefer the construction of the competition clutch flywheels.

Never had an issue with my Fidanza. Must have 15k on it now.

Yeah the Fidanza is an aluminium flywheel with a steel face bolted to it.

My current Fidanza

I think the problem I am having is that the Fidanza was 2nd hand so I don't know its history. I also think that the alloy will not have as great a heat range as the forged steel (a good example of this is wheel nuts). I think at extreme temps the alloy cannot take it, hence the slackening of the pressure plate bolts.

Yup my thoughts too.

Yeah, I was thinking of fitting the Fidanza flywheel I have for my 4th gen to the 5th gen as and when I get a new clutch now instead actually. Quite fancy a Competition clutch one and I was going to go competiton clutch clutch anyway on the 4th.

How much was that Ultra light FW Merl?
