From DC Performance the ultra lightweight (4.08kg) was £209. The lightweight (5.24kg) one was cheaper at £201.

Only £8 in it! Cool. Not a bad price. Did you try CC direct?

I tried phoning them a few times and didn't get an answer. I have bought a few things from DC Performance as they always seem cheaper than buying direct from the manufacturer. I got my KSport brakes from them as they were ~£150 cheaper than KSport themselves.

New CC Steel Flywheel & MiesterR GT1's

Post by Merlin » Sun Mar 29, 2015 8:31 pm

Me and 3rd Gen Steve got the time to get the car sorted out. It was indeed the pressure plate bolts that had come loose. So we changed over the flywheel and used the CC clutch kits that was on the car already and while there was wear the clutch plate looked to have about half the meat left.

We also had enough time to install the MeisterR GT1 coilovers. Without any real reference point to use to set the ride height we guessed but it still ended up being waaaay to high, they need to be re-adjusted before it goes for a wheel alignment.

The amount of wear on the CC pressure plate :? The clutch plate looks to be about half worn.

Nice Job! good thing the clutch is sorted..

really curious how the new suspention will be on the track! Keep me posted and maybe I will get the same setup! Price is very steep but if it works its worth it!
What specs did they build yours?
Guessing my extra power and weight at the front will make a difference....

Wear would doubtless be nothing like that if the pressure plate bolts hadn't come loose.
Were they new bolts last time? Did you use any thread lock?
What about this time?

 sorry for being a curious orange...

They were built to the specs of my car, weight & hardware fitted etc.. Plus tuned to the approximate suspension measurements below (needed to calculate motion ratio):

The front GT1's each weigh 3kg less than the Tein Basic and the rears are 1kg lighter. So I'll have to factor that into my ballast.

Pretty much

This is the 2nd time they have come loose. Last time around we used new bolts, loctite'd, and torqued to the correct spec. This time we used new bolts, loctite'd, and torqued 5 lb/ft over the correct spec

It was the flywheels fault. Steve was speaking to a guy whom used to be a serious racer and he said that he used to experience something similar. The rapid heating and cooling of the flywheel allowed the pressure plate bolts to come loose. His solution was to drill the bolts and wire it all up. I am hopeful that simply moving to a forged steel flywheel will solve the issue.

Wow .. thats pretty annoying... wiring them does seem like the last option , but uou will have to do it very carefully.. cant ever come loose of unbalance the lot...

Let me know how the setup is.. might have to order some proper suspention for next year...

I am pretty sure I wont have to resort to wiring them. I have a had problems with alloy bits before, wheel nuts . They contract and expand too much with heat. So far I have never had problems with removing forged steel wheel nuts. I hope the same principal works for the forged steel flywheel.
