Oil breather snapped

Post by MaccaIRL » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:23 pm

I have a h22a rocker cover I was going to refurb while still driving lude as as daily... problem is the oil breather pipe has snapped off

If I got this welded am I asking for trouble down the line?
It's gonna be the permanent cover on the lude

Looks like it's your pcv. You can get a replacement for around £30-£40 if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't weld it up though as it plays quite significant role in stuff

You could get it welded, but it's a faff. The pipe itself is steel, the cover is aluminium. which bit has snapped?
If it's the pipe, it might be available separately from Honda (they're an interference push fit, so you could remove remains of the old one and replace with new).
If it's the cam cover, welding it will be a pain - aluminium is tig welding only and being cast, it's more difficult again. For the cost of a used replacement cover, you might as well just get another one, complete.

The PCV is snapped, but also the breather pipe in the back left (driver's side) corner. You could weld on a new barbed bit of pipe, or you drill and tap the hole to screw in a fitting, but then you'd need to ensure you get all the swarf out.

I'd get a new cover and refurbished it also.

Didn't even see that breather (probably because it's missing  ). The pcv is the little doofer that sits in the hole towards the rear of the valve cover, next to where the wiring loom sits (in the little divvet on the right hand side)
