A 4ws compatible steering wheel boss
I have a sparco wheel ready to be fitted but all I can find is bloody ek boss kits and universal ones grrr
Bought one off eBay that's supposed to be for the 97-01 prelude but my spark says it'll be just as bad as the universal one to fit :/
I need a boss kit that has the 4ws notch and so on out of it basically lol.
Obvs ill lose airbag and ill have to relocate cruise control if I'm keeping, but apparently my horn is lost as well :/
Really need some advice and links guys, cheers

Are 5g's different in that regard to 4g's?
4g's don't need anything special in terms of boss - the 4ws part is an integral part behind where the steering wheel boss attaches.
Be aware that if you remove the airbag and the airbag light doesn't function correctly, that will be an mot fail. It may also be a fail just if the airbag isn't present (can't recall).

What was explained to me was if I put on this boss kit ill lose everything (horn,4ws,airbag,cruise control, indicator cancel and some steering angle thing)

You will lose cruise and airbag.
There is no need (and it would be stupid) to lose the horn - that just needs a suitable boss. Again, I'm not sure how the 5g works there, but the 4g has a slip contact arrangement, where a 'finger' sticks out on the steering column and contacts a disc on the back of the boss. A wire inside the boss then takes that up inside the boss to the horn button.
If you post some pics of the boss you have, people on here will be able to advise.
Nb: I seem to recall now that 4ws on a 5g is different...

Sounds like your guy is pretty clueless to be honest. Maybe he's had experiences in the past and assumes it the same case for all cars
As wurly says, the horn contact should be there on the correct boss, it may just need some additional wiring to the spade connections on the back of the new horn (depends on the horn).
As you know you'll loose airbag, and need to fit your resistor.
The only part of the cruise control you'll loose are the buttons, but you can remove and retro fit them to the new wheel. I did this with a 4th gen. Or you can install new buttons in the dash.
And the indicator cancel is achieved by the two tabs (castle effect) on the new boss. Again, the correct boss should have these.
These should all be straight forward things for a mechanic who knows what he's doing, so if he doesn't it's time to find a new mechanic.
Can you take a picture of the bottom of the boss you have for us?

Re: A 4ws compatible steering wheel boss
I'll see if I can get a pic later, the boss I have is at my house and I'm up at the girlfriends lol
The guy I went to is actually the owner of the only car electric company in the city, was telling me I need a squib or something for the back of the steering wheel or I'd literally lose everything except the ability to turn the front wheels lol.
Is there a boss kit specifically made for the 4ws 5th gen ?

I've done this in mine. Used a standard universal boss and fitted a resistor to clear the airbag warning light. As well as fabricated a bit for the horn to function.
Let me get a link to my profile bit.
Hopefully it will help.
