My name is Andy - I live in Somerset and have a 5th generation, 1999 2.0 Prelude automatic. I bought the car on impulse over 4 years ago. Having always fancied one, this car popped up as a part ex in a local 4WD specialist.
As soon as I realised it was there, I went straight over - there sat the Prelude, straight as a gun barrel, as genuine as a high court judge, 73,000 miles, 9 months MOT and masses of history. The red paint was flat on most panels, but it drove superbly and I connected with it instantly. I had to have it - but knowing the 4x4 dealer just wanted it gone, I offered £350. At first they said no - I walked, then they told me to come get it.
I’m very lucky, I have access to a really good barn, so the Prelude shelters during the winter. I cannot now imagine not having this car, the paint is still flat - I had a pro valeter try to resurrect it, but it’s covered in lacquer - no go. People comment about the pink hue, but I don’t care, this car is special to me, it’s just superb, every time it goes back on the road, I love it - and at some point, I will have it resprayed.
My son works in film and TV production - and often does his own projects. My Prelude made an appearance in one of Matt’s short films, at his specific request. He could have had a Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Coupe, an Alfa Romeo 156 or GTV, or a Jaguar XK8 on the film set - he insisted on having the Prelude!
I have the Prelude in the workshop now as it’s about to have a cam belt/water pump change, a service, some new exhaust pieces and an MOT. After this essential work, I’ll deal with a thumb nail sized rust scab in the sunroof bay and it’ll be back on the road in April.
I should have registered on here ages ago - better late than never I suppose.
With best regards
Andy H

Hi and welcome, brilliant to hear from someone else so in love with their Prelude
That certainly was a cheap price you got it for (from a dealer) so well done.
The previous owner sure opted for a big change, going from a Prelude to a 4x4

Hi Nathan,
We’re near neighbours - I’m in Ilminster - but keep my Prelude in a barn in the village of Barrington where it spends the winter tucked up out of the bad weather. I’m in the middle of lavishing lots of TLC on it prior to it going back on the road in April. It’s a great car, absolutely a keeper.
With best regards
