By the time you've finished you probably would have knocked 15 years off of her! So I doubt you should have any trouble there!

I've been queuing up cars on that particular premise for years myself too (I'm up to 6 waiting in that particular queue... )

Only 20 years for them still to wait!

Once you're done you could sell it back to Honda as a museum piece

Great dedication!

Heatshield paint, front susp derust & slam panel prime

I'm in my third house since starting this.

Thanks for the other comments. :)

I got round to finishing off the exhaust heat shield. The shield was full of pit marks, so I painted it with some highbuild primer, and a guide coat.

Image

Then rubbed that down and primed…

Image

On with some base coat, the same colour as the wheels.

Image

A while back I bought myself a mini paint gun for small paint items.

Image

Perfect for use with my mini compressor.

Image

And this was a good opportunity to test it out. A nice coat of lacquer.

Image

Some more work on the slam panel.

Image

And on with some primer.

Image

I did want to paint it in colour, but need to take the wings off to do that and because the garage is so narrow, I can’t open the doors to get at some of the bolts, so it’ll have to wait till the car is back on the ground.

I’ve started to clean up the front suspension, when I did the rears, I just dropped then in the liquid, but it took an age to derust, so this time I have decided to grind most of the crap off first.

Removing the bushes, it’s considerably easier removing poly bushes rather than the OEM’s.

Image

Half way there with the upper mounts.

Image

And the lower arms.

Image

I did finish them off but forgot to take a picture.

Finally I decided to make my own power steering cooler, just a bent aluminium pipe basically.

More later.

I don't know... Just seems a little half hearted... Where's the commitment?

;-)

Heatshield looks fab! 8) How large an area do you think that gun would cope with? I've got a small compressor and quite fancy something like that with the amount of spraying I've done recently.

The coverage is pretty good, at least twice as good as an aerosol. I have a spare undamaged front wing to replace the o/s that's been repaired with filler previously, which I'll do in a few weeks, I'm confident it'll be good enough for that.

At £9 for the gun you might as well, plus you can start using decent lacquer, opposed to the solvent laden aerosol stuff.
