airbox valve ?

Yeah same, I have a K&N in my 5th with the resonator.


Have a look and see if the resonator valve actually works. Pull back the drivers wheel arch cover and blip the throttle to 5K, the valve should open. This is a two person job. If the valve is siezed you might as well rip the whole system out.

Cheers fellas.
I have the suspicion that it may not be working as on cold days I get a very strange intake like whine for a few seconds after a cold start like a "woooooooo" noise, which to me sounds like it could be a half open butterfly valve or something... Maybe even a vacuum leak.

I'm pretty sure that is just the power steering pump :D Both 5th's I have owned have done that.

most 4th gen resonator valves will be rusted up imo
not sure if that applies to 5th gens :?
mine was when i removed it
i run standard airbox with pipercross flat panel filter and its my daily drive

Both my 4ths resonator valves work absolutely fine. You can operate them by hand without needing to rev the engine up (to check they're not seized I mean).

UK car runs K&N panel filter with resonator still fitted.
JDM has an A'PEXI cone filter but still has the resonator box fitted, just 'cause I haven't taken it off yet (obviously does nothing now)...
