oil choices :)

Post by Rob_Cool1 » Sat Aug 02, 2014 6:22 pm

Finally after 3 weeks received my claim form from exedy which they rejected my claim, I'm going to call them up Monday because I don't see how after 800 miles the clutch had been over torqued (ragged) :(

But I've got one that's arrived today so will be all back together tomorrow. Here's my question, it needs an oil change aswell as the gearbox oil as that's been taken out. I have a choice for both, 10w-40 semi syn shell helux hx7, and 10w-60 fully syn mobile 1 motorsport oil.
I've been using 5w-30 in the engine and that leaks out badly (also has a hamp shortie filter which a standard Hamp going back on) so I thought I'd put the standard 10-40 it should have back in, but my manager gave me some 10-60 motorsport oil for the gearbox. Would this do better in the engine and the 10-40 for the gearbox?

Can't wait to be back on the road lol

Cheers
Rob

Stick with 10w40 dude. Just best be safe, especially with the troubles you've had ;-)

Yeah that's what I've done, the gearbox is so quiet and smoother now I've put that 10-60 in lol

Hopefully il be trouble free for a few weeks until the next thing happens ;) so nice driving her around again, i have though put slightly wider tires on the back, so if there's someone in the back, on a roundabout or something it does scrub a bit :/ so it's either raise it a bit or stiffen the rear up a bit more lol

@rob_cool1 just thinking... Have you sorted out the missing stiffeners and bolts from the gearbox yet?
