I'd sell my Project for £12k, but you'd have to piece it altogether yourself ;-)

I wouldn't quite say that, they are one of the few companies who can still offer an AGV policy. I had to go a year without that cover :o whilst driving my fresh restoration around. I was paranoid someone was going to bump into me. I just hope in the event, they would pay out what was agreed and not wriggle out.

What are the other companies? I tried a few and all had a firm "Classic" 25+ yrs old policy for AGV, so the Prelude didn't qualify.

I don't know about any AGV's but I do know Chaucer Direct smashed any insurance quotes I got elsewhere and I mean smashed! I valued my white bb4 si vtec at £1800 and my premium is a touch over £300, fully comprehensive. That was up to a thousand pounds cheaper than some other quotes I had!!!

It's an awkward one this.
In the main the preludes for sale at the moment are beat up, rusty, neglected cars. For sale for cheap because people can't afford to run them. Even these are starting to get thin on the ground now.
You don't find any decent restored ludes for sale to compare it to, to get the agreed price.
I would happily pay £3k+ for a few ludes on this forum if anything ever happened to mine (bennys, h10ndrs for example) ... problem is they're not for sale, and likely never will be.
The only one I can think of is Madmaxx's restored lude a few years back. He priced it to sell because he was moving to the USA and put it up for £3k-£3.5k I think, he sold it no problem.

I honestly dont think the policy would be worth the paper it was written on. Sky have been kind enough to allow me to prove to them that my car was worth what I said it was but their service has gotten to feel more like im doing them a favour rather than my buying a service off them.

I think if you were to build a prize lude today it would cost you over 7k. I know mine cost me that so i would say a 5k replacement value if written off would be fair.

get it in blood or dont bother.
6th gen Prelude please Mr Honda. RWD 2.4 turbo lude.

Chaucer put some very interesting things in their small print though... Have you read in detail what came in your policy?

I had the JDM insured with them last year and the policy came through saying it must have a Cat 1 immobiliser installed and said immobiliser must have been there at the time of policy inception (i.e. if it wasn't, the theft part of the policy was invalid, you couldn't go and get it installed now you've received the documents and make that part of the policy valid).

nb: about 8 months in wrote to me to advise they'd revised some of their terms (supposedly not that one, but I read the full document and that clause hadn't been included in the latest copy they sent me lol)

Just another example of these companies doing what they want, technically they can't change any part of your contract without your agreement, and just notifying you of a change is unenforceable. :nono:

This one was to my benefit, so I sure as heck wouldn't have argued
