Bit of a risk....

Post by Vtecmec » Sat Jul 06, 2013 6:01 pm

Well, the daily Civic's dead, the head gasket has gone and the block is warped, only realised once I'd had the head skimmed. A two mile drive sees it overheating massively.

Anyway, having to get to work on Monday, I was in desperate need of some transport and saw a cheap car on ebay yesterday close by(ish) with a reasonable buy it now price, but did not have the transport or time to go and view it. So I took the risk, bought it with one photo and a sketchy description, basically blind, and went to collect this afternoon... :scaredtoss: ....I figured as long at it'll see me through for a few weeks it'll do, it had an MOT so how bad can it be?

Nothing fancy mind, just a 1998 1.6 auto Vectra, and when I got there........

It's absolutely immaculate without a mark on it, has only 38k on the clock, one OAP owner, full service history, full service 50 miles ago with new cambelt, waterpump, brakes all round, new exhaust and new tyres. Hardly any of this was mentioned in the advert. :D

Just off to buy a lotto ticket for tonight.

Woah, for a cheap blind purchase that sounds decent!

Nice buy! I've done this a few times, did it with a Daihatsu YRV 3 months ago. Won it for £235, car was mint apart from a blowing backbox, I replaced that and sold it on for £1200.

Than a 1.4 Civic auto? It's the ecotec engine and apparently does 37 to the gallon, and I do all motorway miles, regardless, it'll beat walking. ;)

Vulture! Same as this one, though not with the half leather.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-W-HONDA- ... 43bd47cda2

If I get what that's going for I'll be pleased, and the condition description is identical to mine.

Your only about 40 mins away from me then, such a poor advert really, considering how good the car is.

BTW, fancy painting a 4th gen?
