VTEC Solenoid Refurb

Post by NafemanNathan » Fri Feb 21, 2014 1:55 pm

As part of the head refurb I've also refurbed the VTEC Solenoid.

Looked like this originally. There were signs a previous owner had attempted to paint it...

Image

Image

I took it apart and gave the main bodies a good soak and scrub in Gunk and then got the Dremel on the solenoid for a few minutes...

Image

Image

Rinsed them off and after they were dry masked them up...

Image

Image

Then gave them a few coats of VHT paint...

Image

Image

I then reassembled the whole lot, masked the capheads and plug and gave the whole thing a few more coats...

Image

Image

I then put it's new hat on before stowing it away for the winter ;) ...

Bought ≠ well treated.

Is that textured paint Nafe? Always thought wrinkle effect would look good on a few small bay parts.

I just couldn't justify spending the money they cost on something that doesn't actually do anything different to OEM.

It's just Halford's own Black VHT which is matt.
