A friends dad killed a cyclist about 7 years ago, the cyclist was weaing all black, had no lights or reflective strips on. It was on a unlit country road, friends dad didn't see him and clipped the cyclist at 50mph. The cyclist flew off and hit a metal barrier, killed the dude instantly.

And I just remember I almost hit a cyclist on Thursday! It was dark and I was waiting to pull right out of a T junction. I saw the cyclist coming, he had two big headlamps on his handlebars. He was travelling on the other side of the road heading in the direction I wanted to go. I thought I'll let him pass before I pull out so he doesn't feel I'm just going to ram him off the road. He's now level with me, so I look both ways to make sure it's clear before pulling out. It's clear so I start to roll out, and all of a sudden he's right on my OSF corner!
My mate in the passenger seat doesn't know how he got there either!
And he certainly didn't indicate in all that time I was waiting for him!

Re: top gear
As a cycling tosspot and a driver I have to say some cyclists are dicks and deserve to be nudged
I stop at red lights and don't use the path, I signal, have lights, etc... But then even as a pedestrian I will wait for the light to change if I've pressed a button at a crossing, even if no cars are coming anymore
it's out of principle really, I hate those wankers that push the button as they're crossing and are over the road before the lights even change.

To get to the town I live you have to go up a country road that's about 2 miles long, there is factory nearby the other end of this road. You get people who must work shifts at the factory riding up the country road with no hi viz, lights or helmet at night and loads get knocked off. I've nearly hit a few in the past.
I don't have anything against cyclists, but if you ride at night with no lights you deserve to get knocked off.

Golf's don't do it for me, either
That film though did demonstrate very well, exactly why I think front engine/rwd cars make no sense whatsoever for an everyday car - reduced interior and boot space, the handling is much less predictable/more dangerous when you lose traction (and they're absolutely jobby in snowy/icy conditions).
The only time when rwd offers any benefits is when you want to deliverately have some back end out fun on a track.
So a rwd car in the real world, is just pointless and that's why I just don't get peoples obsession with buying beemers and mercs for daily's - they've all just fallen for hype of 'the ultimate driving machine' and 'rwd is best' when it actually gives them a much worse car for what they actually need.
And this is from someone that's been using a (very good) rwd car as a daily for the last year, too - it's great fun if I want to do a bit of hooning about, but apart from that it's pointless and just offers disbenefits.
Interested to see if LLL agrees with this - I know he uses his beemer as a daily, but I think it was bought deliberately because he wanted to do some tail out fun rather than because it would be a good daily (so he's weighed up the pro's/con's and decided to go for the back end out fun while accepting the other limitations).
Otherwise, a fwd car would do everything else the beemer does, probably better???
I liked the bike section FWIW and that Porka is one heck of a capable machine...
Unfortunately though, from some angles it looks great, but from some it looks a bit

I really don't know why they don't just cut all the crap and make it a 30 minute show?
The rest is staged/padding anyway, would save them money in all sorts of ways and I suspect, save a few viewers.
30mins of car stuff/exotica. Full stop.
Oh and yes, love the 'innovative' things in the golf and the Porsche, just like how the Prius was the first ever feckin hybrid...
