Well it was 20-Jul-12 11:50:49, but I know it had already been advertised before that as well ;-)

So I'm sorry, I don't get it. Why produce a 2.2 vtec when they produce a 2.3 vtec. :?

It was the other way round, 2.2 vtec came first, 2.3 vtec was later and only for a small number of markets. No increase in power, but a change in characteristics.

Ah ok. Well why produce the 2.3 at all then?? Why not just use the jdm H22a in the cars using a H23 vtec. Just seems a massive waste of money to me :?

The 2.3 was for cars not available in this market, which is why it probably doesn't seem logical looking at our line up. In japan the 2.3 VTEC was used in SiR model Accord Wagons, which are epic! :D

Yea but the japs knowing that they already had the H22 with same figures, why spend money producing an engine with the same figures as the H22. Just doesn't seem logical to me, but hey

Presumably there's more torque maybe, or it produces peak torque/power at an RPM more suited to a heavy, automatic estate? Iveno idea but I'm sure they had a reason

Applying that logic you could probably bin a lot of other engines too

Don't forget with the H22 you have a whole array of engines spanning a range of about 35hp. I think even the H23A VTEC is mapped for different outputs in the Accords it came in. Different horses for different Iceland meals.

Different torque curve for heavier cars. Also emissions control. The yanks s2000 are 2.2 to get around emissions since they were too high on the f20c engine.

Same with my Vw t5 van. Why use the same 2.0tdi engine in my van thats in all vag cars when they can just save money and put the quad turbo w16 engine in .

The h23 reaches peak torque at a lower rpm than the h22. The extra displacement is achieved by using longer rods so there isn't really a great deal of difference to be honest. It just means you don't have to rev as high to get the same kinda power. Also only available as an auto so probably suits the auto box better than a h22.
