What about, the Fiat Uno?!

Image

Mum had one when I was younger, and as with most of us we hold a soft spot for our parent's early cars

While I'm on that thought, dad had a Rover/Austin Montego!!

I like Montego's as well. :? Plus they are actually really quick.
I'll withhold my views of small fiats of that age though, for forum harmony

The MG Montego and Meastro Turbo's were both pretty funky motors..

There is a lad in the UK who has a Nissan Sunny in a similar style. It gets driven. I believe he did everything himself, it's awesome!
I honestly have trouble imagining a Sunny that works, but I'll take your word for it.

Presumably if that one in your first pic runs out of fuel he can just slide the exhaust along any local tram lines for power....

How about a Nissan S-Cargo?

Genuinely saw one of these the other day! They're all part of the Pike cars, same with the Figaro etc. all based on older models by other brands. I think the S-Cargo was based on a Citroen 2CV van
I haven't seen one in years. Surprised they're based on a 2cv van - always assumed they were based on a micra like the Figaro. The French do add something to the world's car culture... I'm not sure what, but it's something

Surely the Mirafiori and 944S are both too cool to be Marmite cars, Merc?

I liked the Montego too. It was reasonably proportioned, and not that bad looking for the time. My useless memory recalls a 0-60 of 10.8s for the 1.6L.... but it felt quicker.... how is it that this was considered fast-ish for the time? (MG Maestro from memory was 8.5. Turbo an unbelievable 6.7?). I guess you have to factor in the brakes and tyres too, though... :?

The only Fiat Uno I tried had the worst gearbox I've ever encountered. I was like sticking a knife into a heavy swarf bucket when pissed and stirring it around expecting to get some sort of result.
