i have the same problem as well, but mine only hunts when the engine is hot, so i believe it should be related to the IACV. i disconnected the IACV and it stopped hunting, so in my case i'll start with the IACV . have you got any photos of the damage you found on your FITV ?

Hi ladies and gentlemen, I went to a scrap yard and got my hands on a second hand FITV and the white plastic retainer, have fitted it and she is purring like a kitten l. Only have one problem Tho she's idling at just under 1000rpm when cold but when warmed up is idling at 1500rpm. Do I need to wind the white plastic retainer a bit more articles do I need to adjust some thing else?

At a guess I would have thought they were different, but obviously it mounts on ok. Did you compare the actual interfaces between the FITV and the manifold to see it they were the same. If they're even slightly different then there's the potential for a leak.
Do the thumb test again though to make sure it's still the FITV at fault first.
