^THIS!
I know it's easy to fall out of love with a car, but you have a known chassis there, and everything else for that matter.
£250 on an engine and £500 to whack it in is less than you'd fork out on a-n-other lude, with all it's unknown issues to find out about!
Or - spanner meet?? Judging from the similar thread, I'm sure there would be plenty of bods to help?

if W1ggz says there's minimal rust of your shell mate then id keep it - put another engine in, plenty of good h22's around, Bri has a known good one - just needs the cam shaft seal replacing as far as I know, but im sure there would be one closer to where you live if need be.
that's the one thing when searching for a new lude, rust
it can hide very well

There is indeed minimal rust on the shell - it would be hard to find a better one.
What little there is could do with being properly treated now though, or after another winter it would definitely spread and cost more to sort after that.
Failing which, this is the cheap lude I was talking about that's come up recently, if it's still available.
